You are currently viewing DC Solar Water Pump

A DC Solar water pump uses the energy created by solar panels to run the motor. The electricity generated by a solar system is Direct Current (DC) and this can be converted to Alternating Current (AC) through the connection of an inverter.

There are a number of solar water pumps powered by Direct current (DC) and a number powered by Alternating current (AC). However, there is only one range of solar water pumps that can run on both DC and AC without the purchase of an additional inverter. These are the SQ and CR Flex pumps designed and manufactured by Grundfos.

The advantage of this type of DC pump is that, should the weather deteriorate, then the pump can be switched over to run on AC using a generator. These pumps are also able to be powered by storing the DC energy in batteries. A Solar Water pump with battery backup also provides the user with the additional benefit of constant flow and pressure of water.
